Romantic Things to Do in Tokyo Japan

Romantic things to do in Tokyo

I have been living in Tokyo on and off for many years- and would like to share my list of the top romantic things to do in Tokyo– Perfect for honeymooners and couples who wish to rekindle romance through travel :

1. Take a stroll along Omotesando Street during December to experience the beautiful evening illumination. The Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown areas are also beautifully lit up from late November through the end of the year. It is a very romantic mood-setting experience, and in fact I have tried it with success! Best of all- it’s absolutely free!

2. Stay at a luxury hotel with a view of Tokyo Tower from your bed. Hotels I recommend with an excellent view are: The Ritz Carlton at Tokyo Midtown, Grand Hyatt Hotel in Roppongi Hills, Park Hyatt Hotel, Shinjuku (the one from the film “Lost in Translation.”) I particularly like the deep soaking tubs and spaciousness of the bathrooms and the blackout windows at the Grand Hyatt. Request the concierge floor which features a luxuriously spacious Japanese-style living room and special services. Count on splurging!

3, Enjoy an in-room couples massage or couples massage lesson in your very own hotel room in Tokyo. This is a great way to relax, and suitable for honeymooners, friends, and long-time partners who would like to rekindle the flame: http;//
Tokyo Tel: 090-4609-9445 From Overseas Lines ; 81-90-4609-9445. Relax and enjoy the luxury oil massage of a lifetime with certified and licensed highly-skilled, congenial female massage therapists from California, USA. Of course massages for singles are available, too. Choose from a variety of offerings including: Holistic Aromatherapy, Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Healing Therapies, and the luxurious combination “POSH” massage.

4. A day trip to the romantic coastal town of Kamakura. Kamakura is only an hour or so from Tokyo- but it is a lifetime away in terms of its old-style charm. Some call it “Little Kyoto.” If you only have a few days to spend in Tokyo, you should really experience the temples, shrines, the giant Buddah statue, hiking, and the excellent cuisine offered in this charming city. One Sushi restaurant I highly recommend is : WASABI The address: 2-2-1 Jomyoji, Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. TEL; 81 467-25-2767 (There is no website available in English, but it is well-known in the area, so just ask directions at the train station.)

5. Experience wearing Japanese traditional garments “Yukata” in Summer or “Kimono” in Winter. You will feel amazingly cool (and some say sexy) wearing this uniquely Japanese traditional garb. There are plenty of places in Tokyo and Kyoto where you can enjoy this experience and go out for the day in your traditional clothing! Photos can also be arranged- for an unforgettable memory of your time in Tokyo.

6. Visit Nezu Musuem- This is a small museum in one of Tokyo’s most fashionable areas. It is usually not crowded on weekdays. Surrounded by lush foliage, this is one of the few museums in Tokyo which features solely Japanese and Asian art. Enjoy a leisurely time strolling in the beautiful garden and have a drink or lunch in the delightful glass-walled cafe with a lovely garden view. Unforgettable and Romantic!

7. Go to Rikugien Gardens. On the outskirts of Tokyo is one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan. Stroll around the flowers and fauna and pack a picknic lunch to enjoy together. For your picnic you may ask your hotel concierge about the hotel making you a Japanese style “bento” lunch box. Bring some tea or sake with you and you’re all set. Enjoy!

8. Experience a Japanese Onsen Hot Spring Spa. There are many areas just outside of Tokyo to experience these retreats. One place which is highly recommended is Hakone Ginyu :
The decor is romantic, there are striking views, open-air (outdoor) baths, and lovely traditional Japanese cuisine. The rooms are beautiful, and you have a choice of Western or Japanese style decor and bedding. Most Japanese-style rooms have bedding known as futons- where you sleep on padded custion-type bedding on tatami matt floors. So- this spa offers the best of both worlds- Expensive but well worth it!

I will be adding more things to this list as they inspire me– so stay tuned!

Enjoy a Romantic time in Tokyo and HAVE FUN!

Jet Lag in Tokyo-

Need a Jet Lag Cure in Tokyo?  ~ Try my Jet Lag Massage!

Lots of my clients and friends ask me about the best cure for jet lag.   From years of travel experience and research. and from what Medical Doctors, Naturopath Specialists and Million Milers say- here’s my best advice:

Before your flight:  Drink plenty of water- to avoid dehydration. Eat lightly and do some exercise to improve your circulation. Apply plenty of lotion to your face and body to avoid dehydrating your skin.  Set your watch for the local time of your destination city.  People who tend to always check the time in their city of origin tend to feel worse.  Jet lag is also psychological!
During Your flight:
1.  Avoid alcohol consumption and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, which naturally occurs on long flights.
2. If you can’t sleep on the plane take a very mild sedative to help you- but only if you are used to taking such sedatives.
3.  Avoid salty airline foods- they can aggravate you and may cause joints to swell.  Bring your own light snack such as crudities or fruit to eat.
4.  Get up and do some stretching and moderate exercise while you are in the plane. You can usually find room to do this near the bulkhead areas.
5. Wear an eye mask and ear plugs to block out light and sound, and wear a do-not-disturb sign on your chest. Tell flight attendants not to wake you, so they will not disturb you unless it is absolutely necessary.
6. Drink lots of purified water.  Bring your own large bottle on board if you can purchase one before you board the plane.
After Your Flight:
7. Meditate.  Meditation has been proven to emit relaxing alpha waves causing you to slow down,  and allowing your mind to relax.
8.  Go outside if it’s daytime- and get your body acclimated to the temperature and time.  This is very important.
9.  Go for a brisk walk or a swim- it will make you feel comfortable and energize you.
10. Stick to a light meal if you are hungry such as fruit, yogurt or a salad.
11. Dim the lights in your room and take a short nap if you have to-  but not a long one. as it may make it difficult for you to sleep at night.
12.  Try my FREQUENT FLYER JET LAG OIL MASSAGE- It’s guaranteed to help you feel “grounded!”  Please see details below:
